WPBA Peoria 2006 Event Diary

So, yet another road trip, although this time Kelly is missing.  She and some of the other girls were playing in the IPT competition.

May I take this opportunity to congratulate all of you girlies who played.  It must have been tough playing, when anger management and etiquette classes wouldn't have gone a miss for some of the players.  Anyway good luck in the future.

Round 1.

Crystal McCormick.

I had never played her before, but I noticed that she hit the ball really nicely.  I played ok, but still missed too many balls.  That seems to be commonplace these days.  Anyway.  I won 9-3.  My Victory was helped by the fact that she missed a 9 ball.

After the match she was very complimentary about the way I played.

A nice way to start a competition.

Round 2.

Sarah "Mini Me" Rousey.

I felt really good going in to the match and everything was going according to plan.  I was running out when I was supposed to and playing very good safeties.  However, once on the hill, I started to roll down it.  I was 8-3 up and looking pretty.  Then Sarah won the 12th.  "That's ok" I said to myself," I only need one more rack".  Sarah then won the 13th.  "That's still ok.  I have a comfortable lead of 3 racks".  She then won the next two to make it 8-7.  She totally dominated the last 4 games and although I was shut out, I still felt that, given one chance, I could close out the match.  That chance came in the 16th game when I had a shot to nothing on the 1 ball.  I made it and ran out.  I wiped my brow and gave a big sigh of relief.

Round 3

Karen Corr.

Time to roll your sleeves up when playing Karen.  It's intense.  A real battle.  But I like it.  Sometimes I play my best against her, and this was one of those occasions.  Well, nearly.

I am going to fast forward to 8-6 to Kim Shaw.  With three balls left on the table, Karen left me a shot on the 5 ball.  Not easy but I liked it.  The 5 was on the cushion and  I spun it in with inside english, knowing that the cue ball was coming three rails and into the 6 ball.  Then disaster struck for Kim Shaw fans.  The cue ball indeed came two rails, but on it's way to the 3rd rail, hit the 9 ball and scratched.  I was devastated.  It knocked me for 6.

I don't remember what happened in the last 2 games, but Karen won 9-8.

After that match, I wanted to throw my cue away, and it showed when I played Ga Young Kim.
She walked all over me.  I didn't care in the slightest.

I'm all better now, although the big padded room I am confined to is very boring.

I finished 17th

So,  we now have a break from the WPBA.   The IPT, however, goes on.  COME ON THE GIRLS!!!!!

Our next stop is The US Open in ABQ Oct 18-22.

See you there.
